A recycling plant is required for construction projects that produce wastes of more than 20 tonnes per day. The plant will convert the waste into aggregates that can be used in other construction activities.
The Confederation of Real Estate Developers Association of India (Bengal chapter) has received the proposal and agreed to implement it.
“Construction sites must become more environmentally friendly and stop dumping trash. A KMC official stated that they must set up a waste material recycling plant on the site to reduce waste generation.
Head break concrete blocks, pile caps and broken tiles are all examples of construction waste. They are not biodegradable. They can be reused for driveway paving instead of being disposed of. Although the civic body will continue to pick up smaller amounts of waste, it will not dump them in landfills. KMC will instead set up a crushing plant to turn the waste into aggregates which can be used in construction activities.
